Does anyone feel something uneasy in the dark and would prefer the lights on?Or feel something is there but you can't explain it?

Re: scared of the dark?
Fri, July 8, 2005 - 4:35 PMyes, though I can't sleep really with the light on. I often (several times a month) wake up feeling like there's someone's face inches from my own, staring at me. When I come to, I see random shapes (you know how when you rub your eyes hard), then I wake up fully, turn on the light, calm down, and try to go back to sleep. It's happened in several houses, so I don't think it's haunted house related...dunno

Thu, July 14, 2005 - 7:53 AMI have had the somewhat the same experience. I can say from my faith what I believe in it would be demons. If it was angelic or good you wouldn't feel uneasy. -

Re: scared of the dark?
Thu, July 21, 2005 - 5:34 PMYes, that something staring down at you from the darkness is a spider.
But seriously, I've had a few times where I was scared even though I knew nothing was there.

Re: scared of the dark?
Sun, February 19, 2006 - 5:04 PMi have been scared of the dark since i was a little girl... i have always had to sleep with the bathroom light on... to this day the idea of sleeping in a pitch black room with the door closed is impossible for me...
and sometimes i also can feel something right above my face when i am trying to go to sleep... when that happens i have to turn a light on, turn on my tv and do my best to try and get to sleep with all that noise and light... it's not easy but it's better than laying there feeling that creepiness...
of course right after i saw "white noise" (which i thought was a CRAP movie by the way) the tv or the radio on only made things worse... right before that movie came out i went through a really strong phase of spending my downtime at work listening to evps all over the internet... it used to drive my office-mate *crazy* to hear that shit come out of my computer out of nowhere... scared her to death... scared me pretty bad too but it was broad daylight and i was addicted! -

Re: scared of the dark?
Sat, April 22, 2006 - 12:02 AMI usually sleep with all the lights and TVs on, and have had a feeling of something there. If my girlfriend is there the feeling is gone, why? I have had many experiences in the supernatural realm. I dont understand and mostly dont care, but have seen this post and thought I would say something and see what happens -

Re: scared of the dark?
Sat, April 22, 2006 - 6:40 AMI was afraid to sleep alone in the dark all my life, always had strange shapes, sensations, shadows, etc., until my dad died a year ago...
Now - I have no fear whatsoever, which amazes me. I can sleep in the dark, get up to walk through my pitch black apartment to the bathroom, etc., and I feel absolutely comfortable.
My mom, who also was always afraid in the dark, has told me the same thing - that since he died she feels amazingly unafraid, although she expected to have a very hard time with this since she is alone now for the first time in many years.
On the day he died, my mom, my sister and I had a talk with my dad about what happens when people die...we had discussed it before, but that day we told him that we all wanted to KNOW, and that if it was possible, we wanted him to contact us in some way after he passed. He has done this, many times in various ways - if I had been the most skeptical person in the world before I would not be able to deny this stuff at this point.
So we think he is the reason that we feel so unafraid now. -

Re: scared of the dark?
Thu, April 27, 2006 - 7:45 AMI have always been afraid of the dark, and I dont know why. To me it feels...crowded out there, like a bunch of bodies brushing up against one another. At the same time, there is a hyper stillness to it, so its like when anything does move, you notice it so much more (move in an energy sense).
I had a nightlight until I was baout 10 years old, and that was when I learned light and dark have nothing to do with malice. Something wandered in my room with intent to hurt me, and the light did nothing to deter it, it only let me know the thing I could HEAR moving I couldnt SEE with my eyes. After that I slept with the lights out in a sort of "why bother" philosophy, and mostly I handle it. Its funny, but its like having the critter in the dark confirmed made me LESS afraid. Still, I sometimes have bad nights where every light in the house will be on, even though I know it doesnt do any good.

Re: scared of the dark?
Sun, November 12, 2006 - 8:18 PMI've had the face. It haunted me for weeks. It never returned but it did a number on me in that one instance. It was a demonic face and it sent so many rapid images after it appeared. I had never felt so much fear in my heart in my life.

Re: scared of the dark?
Sun, November 12, 2006 - 8:37 PMI don't have a problem with the dark. Like someone else said, why bother keeping a light on if it's not going to reveal the thing you hear. That said, I absolutely must have some kind of sound to sleep. It can be a radio turned so low as to be almost random sounds, or my sound machine on any one of seven settings. I cannot sleep in so-called silence because I hear things. It's maddening. Despite the fact that I can't understand any of the "whispering" I still find myself trying to make it out, so I need a distracting noise like my radio or other sounds to mask it.
