I just saw a show on UFOs on the History Channel. Just *why* the History Channel has programs on UFOs is another question, but they showed one group out in the desert flashing a Morse code message to the heavens: "Hello. We are peaceful."
Man, is that false advertising. :-)

I know you posted this a long time ago, however, should you ever decide to read this post, I have an answer for you.
The reason, myself and other scientists chose Morse-Code as a method of communicating with suspected listening Aliens, is that Morse code is the oldest and longest in continuous usage electrical signaling protocol. It is our opinion that should an ExtraTerrestrial be listening to Human electrical spectra, that they might have had sufficient time to be able to decode the literagistic intent of the Morse coded messages. It should be noted, however, that as of 1997, Morse code was officially discarded as the primary SOS distress signalling service on the high-seas and is no longer a requirement for ship operators to learn to obtain their Master's license as other technologies are now more reliable methods of clear transmission.
It is likely a myth that ET will have "Universal-Translaters" that would enable them to understand other Alien thinking and communication processes. How does ET communicate with other ET successfully? This is a significant hurdle for inter-spiciel communication.

our world is a wonderful and marvelous place that we tend to take for granted. most of the areas of space we can observe are far less hospitable. our world truly is the garden of eden, we just tend to forget because we are so intimate with it.
...so if you met and could communicate with an extra terrestrial what questions would you ask?...
i'd ask about birthdays and how they celebrate life... :)

As for false advertising, consider the other side of the coin: UFOs abduct human beings, wipe their minds, steal cell & DNA samples without court approval, shuffle people all over the globe, rob the dead, snarl up air traffic routes, cause widespread hysteria, panic federal governments, and occasionally cause radiation burns on human beings. Are *they* really peaceful?

Originally the Discovery Channel documentary show producer, Vince Di Persio, did a six hour special about my Morse Code ETp contact platform. I am an electronics engineer who is also a software engineer and I experienced significant ET contact in my life time. As part of my past on-going attempts to study ET in all its phases of interaction space within the Human environ, I attempted to contact ET using scientific logic.
