I believe and have felt cognitive activity outside the realms of what is considered normal, factual and verifiable. I have had several telepathic experiences, but not the hollywood kind of telepathy. In these experiences I have felt it is more like the group in question dials into the same frequency, not reading each others thoughts so much as reading the energy formations that thought stems from. I believe the entire "purpose" of all-night parties and their ilk is exactly to achieve this state of paranormal rapport.

I haven't had any out-of-body experiences, but I have had dreams which were mildly precognitive. In these dreams, elements which occur within the dream will appear in my waking life, but usually in differing contexts.

I can also see aura's to a mild degree. Still practicing with this ability, it can be tricky to differentiate between an aura and a retinal after image. The main difference is that auras are fluid, whereas after images are static and tend to float around wherever your eyeball points.

Those are just some brief notes on my experiences. To me it is very obvious that there is much more to our sensory systems then the blatant input/output of ears, eyes, nose, skin and tongue. Each of these organs receives and translates vibrations at some scale, but there are many more spectrums of vibration then those grossly interpreted by our external sensory organs.

An interesting meditation; go into a perfectly quiet environment (cave, concrete room, etc). Sit in the darkness and listen. What do you feel? What do you hear? I have found that the different systems in my body create "audible" rhythms that I can perceive if I am very still. I can even hear the sound of my nervous system if I am very still! I must say, they are not exactly sounds at all for they don't seem to be received my ears.

I think much of psychic perception has to do with paying attention to and HONORING the subtle frequencies that pass through your body. Daily, you are bombarded with sensory information and your mind routinely filters out what it doesn't feel it needs. In a society so concerned with the facade of material reality it is quite unsurprising to find that most people have lost their ability to perceive the everpresent subtlties of the energetic bodies surrounding them.

With any of your senses, you can meditate upon them in stillness. Eventually or immediately you will notice sensations which do not fall within your normal realm of attention. If you do give attention to these sensations, your sensitivity to them INCREASES and your awareness grows stronger. It is quite possible to train your body into a more advanced state of receptivity. What strange discoveries you might make upon this path, I cannot say... but I do encourage it.

The term "psychic" has been badly damaged by those who sell their abilities for hard cash. there are occasionally unexplained phenomenon, and I personally know of a woman who has had two flashes in her life, both related to danger to her family. So there is at least a bare-bone element of truth to the concept.

The proper term should be "alleged psychic". For every person who has a sliver of precognitive ability, there are 20 frauds on the circuit using common stage magic, boosted by believers and greedy TV executives.

For anyone who is proclaiming in a loud voice that they have telepathy or some other psychic ability, my response is, "Take the Randi Paranormal Challenge," and then I'll believe you. To date, no Alleged Psychic has ever passed.

It depends on whether you're talking about people who "sell" their ability or whether such things exist. I believe that there are people who, for whatever reason, are able to tap into aspects of this world that can't be scientifically explained.

What I have a problem with are people who promote and "sell" their ability. To give you an example, there's a show on CourtTV called "Psychic Detectives" about people who use their psychic abilities to assist the police in solving crimes. Are they really psychic? I don't know. What annoys and sometimes pisses me off is the way they allow themselves to be portrayed on the show. There are lots of slow-motion shots of the psychic staring gravely at the camera while holding up their hands to sense vibrations. If someone wants to be taken seriously, this isn't the way to go about it. Then there are the people who advertise their services as "psychic advisors," a la the Psychic Hotline.

The aspect of this that really pisses me off is that I do believe that some people have these abilities, but that these shows ultimately do not help people accept them. If the image people have is one of a sober, responsible person who isn't a shameless self-promoter, I think their going to be a lot more likely to accept that they are real. I will now step-down from my soap box. :-)

well said Eric :) i totally understand your perspective on this. i really appreciate psychics who do not advertise, they are usually the absolute real deal. i recently saw a psychic a week ago and to be honest i was a skeptic until i sat in the chair.

i always believed that we are all somewhat psychic, some can just bring it out more than others. but this lady was simply amazing. i always refer to my "hunch" as my psychic ability or perhaps its just common sense... hah.

      i'm a definate believer now.

I believe our brains are capable of 110% more than we KNOW. Including psychic abilities, sure.

There is, however, a difference between belief and science. Each of these produces a different kind of knowledge. A lot of belief (and faith) is focused on getting people to do just a fraction of what they are actually capable of doing. A lot of science happens because some really smart and hardworking people are pushing their own envelopes on a regular basis.

I believe that human beings, as animals, are intricately connected to their environment. Survival, on the most basic level, relies upon our ability to be in touch with what is going on around us. This is accomplished thru our "reptilian" brain. Most people's old brains function under the surface, unnoticed, drowned out by our loud "new" brain, the cerebral cortex. There are people, however, that are born with much more conscious awareness of the signals that their old brain gives them. Perhaps this is "psychic". I also think that all of us have the capacity to develop tuning in to our environment on a psychic level.

I belive that certain people have an ability to tap into things /feel things that others can't . I have a very small ability to predict pregnancy & sex of the baby in close friends & family .
I also have the tendency to yell at my poor hubby for things he just thought thinking that I heard him say them !

I know an amazing psychic Helane - never saw anyone that accurate and with so many details...yes and she "sells" her abilities - helping people with her abilities is her passion - it is what she believes she has been placed here for - why can't she make a living at it? Her specific detals about my life and some future events that totally happened allowed me to see that there is much more out there than I thought - and that has changed me. It was worth every penny! I would recommend her to any of you! She also does world predictions that totally freak me out because they are all happening. I get a kick out of knowing the future. ( :
